Questions before
you issue a badge.

What is an Open Badge?

An Open Badge is a structured digital credential that connects an achievement with its issuer and a recipient claim. Vitni issues Open Badges 3.0 credentials as signed JSON-LD documents.

Read how the format works

Who is the issuer?

Each customer organization has its own issuer identity. Vitni provides the platform, while the organization publishes its issuer profile and awards credentials from its own workspace.

Can I check a badge from another system?

Vitni’s public verifier accepts external credential URLs and documents in supported formats. The verifier reports what it could check; compatibility depends on the credential’s format and proof method.

How can recipients keep and share credentials?

Recipients can open a public credential page, download its signed JSON-LD, share a link or QR code, and print a certificate view. The signed credential remains the authoritative record.

Can my team self-host Vitni?

The repository includes a local development setup. Production self-hosting needs additional operator setup, upgrade, backup, security, and key-management work.

Is Vitni open source today?

Open-source Community edition is the product direction. Its license and contribution policy are still being decided, so Vitni does not yet claim to be an open-source project.
